Therapy for Anxiety

Talk Therapy

Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy or psychological counseling, involves working with a therapist to reduce your anxiety symptoms. It can be an effective treatment for anxiety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the most effective form of psychotherapy for anxiety disorders.

CBT is based on several core principles, including:

  1. Psychological problems can be attributed to faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking.

  2. Psychological problems can be partly based on learned patterns of harmful and/or unhelpful behavior.

  3. If you are suffering from anxiety, with CBT you can learn better ways of coping, thereby relieving your symptoms and becoming more effective in your ability to create.

The first step in managing anxiety is to learn as much as you can about it, as a thorough understanding of your anxiety can in itself reduce its frequency and intensity.
