Trauma Recovery

Brainspotting

Brainspotting (BSP) will help you access, process and overcome challenges such as trauma, difficult emotions, grief, anxiety and feeling stuck. BSP is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. BSP is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with bilateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful.

BSP incorporates the mind, body, mindfulness tools and eye position to assist in creating change. Through BSP we can reprocess negative events and retrain emotional reactions. BSP is particularly effective with trauma-based situations, helping to identify and heal underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression and other behavioral conditions. It can also be used with performance and creativity enhancement.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR will enable you to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. In session, you will be asked to recall distressing images. You will then be directed in one type of bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movement or tapping either side of the body.

EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.
