Therapy for Depression

The Power of the Mind

  • Mindfulness

Mindfulness is basically the ornate human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Whenever you bring awareness to what you’re directly experiencing, or to your state of mind through your thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. One of the primary goals of being mindful is to awaken to the inner workings of our mental, emotional, and physical processes.

  • Narrative Therapy

As you experience events and interactions, you are giving meaning to those experiences and they then can influence how you see the world, and ultimately yourself. Narrative therapy is a style of therapy that will help you become an expert in your own life. We will put an emphasis on the stories that you develop and carry with you through your life. As your story comes together, you become an observer. This type of therapy stresses the importance of not labeling yourself or seeing yourself as "broken" or "the problem.”

  • Existential Therapy

Existential therapy places emphasis on the human condition as a whole. You will be encouraged to not only address the emotional issues you face through full engagement but to also take responsibility for the decisions that contributed to the development of those same issues. I will help guide you to accept your fears and give you the skills necessary to overcome these fears through action. I will help teach you to embrace your life and exist in this world with wonder and curiosity.
